Hi Bill!

What is your prediction on:

1) Number of rookies in the lineup opening night

2) Number of players with $1M+ Cap hits assigned to the Phantoms

All these pure centers we draft and develop as wingers are going to come in handy with guys getting tossed from the dot as often as they are in preseason. I can't take seeing Jake take too many more face offs.

1) 4 (Patrick, Lindblom, Morin, Hägg).

2) 1 (Read).

Pretty much how I see it. Read just seems to have lost a step and without that speed he's not the same player. He could be a nice veteran leader and top line RW at the AHL level though and a good guy to have for depth when needed.

Re the D: While I think Sanheim, so far at least, looks like he should get a spot in the top 6, he'll really have to blow them away to do so. I don't agree with their way of thinking, but I'm not the guy in charge. All that being said, I do expect him to be a regular in the Flyers lineup before the end of this season.

It's a numbers game for Read at this point. He would make a solid 4th line PK forward but I think there are players they like better.

Pretty much. So far at least, all of Lehtera, Laughton, Weise and Leier have just looked better.

I'd like and I'm sure most of us would like to see sanheim make the team. It's still up in the air as it should be. More games to evaluate to come. I think the D would have a nice balance of physicality and offense when you roll out 3 defensive guys in hagg, gudas, and morin and 3 offensive minded guys in provorov, ghost, and sanheim.

That is a nice balance on paper but they have to still earn it in this preseason

Hey Bill!

Do you know if there will be a practice session on Sunday AM (tomorrow)?

I would think not, given back to back games Monday and Tuesday, but I thought I'd ask.

Read will still get a couple exe starts so anything is possible. At least two of the three 10-12 forwards will have to kill penalties.

It's still possible as many as six rookies make it to opening night. Looking forward to the next four games but, as of now, I'm of the opinion that with Morin looking like an upgrade today over what the Flyers had last year filling those minutes, they could actually absorb Sanheim and Hagg into the Top 6 now. Get them into the NHL and get them playing.

As much as I want and think it should happen. I just don't see them putting 3 rookies in the starting lineup on defense.

I hope they do.

I'm not thinking of Morin like a rookie after watching him 3 games now. I'm very impressed. I've watched Sanheim the same three and the kid has some offensive skill and the team looks like it's going to be hard up for goals.

I am thinking there will be one shock roster move.

When they get to the regular season, there is going to be times when Morin shows that he's a rookie. I like what I see also but I'm not going to pretend he's not a rookie.

I see Morin making those sneaky good plays in the D zone. Just like Provey was doing last year and Coots has been doing for years. I like it. He is sooo big, has that super long reach and is very fast with his closing speed.
